EHCP UPDATES

There has been an important update regarding Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) at The Orchard School. As part of our commitment to supporting our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), we will now be implementing the recommended guidance from Kent County Council (KCC) regarding Section A of EHCPs.

What is Section A (Appendix 1A) of an EHCP?

Section A is a vital part of your child’s EHCP, which provides an opportunity for you and your child to share personal views, aspirations, and key information that reflects their unique experiences and needs. This section helps to ensure that your child’s voice is heard and considered throughout their educational journey.
Parents and carers also need to complete Appendix 1B so the school and SEN have all the correct information, and you can also give your views and comments.

How will this be implemented?

As advised by KCC, all Section A documents will now be sent to you
via email. This will allow for a more efficient and accessible process, ensuring you have the opportunity to review and update your child’s information as needed.

What do you need to do?
1. Please ensure that the school has your correct email address on record.
2. Once you receive the Section A (1A& 1B) document, we kindly ask you to review the information carefully and provide any updates or additional details that you feel are important.
3. Return the updated Section A (1A& 1B) to the school within the specified timeframe, before the annual review.
