KS4 Mathematics Qualifications
GCSE Mathematics EDEXCEL Foundation or Higher
Pupils will study a wide variety of mathematical content including :- number, algebra, graphs, tables and charts, fractions and percentages, equations, inequalities, sequences, angles, averages,area and volume, transformations, ratio and proportion, right-angled triangles, probability, multiplicative reasoning, loci and bearings, congruence, similarity and vectors.
This is a two year course and pupils will have the opportunity to take either the foundation or higher papers.
Assessment: This exam will be externally assessed and will consist of three one and a half hour exams taken in June.
GCSE Statistics EDEXCEL Foundation or Higher
This course consists of studying data analysis and will involve :- collection of data, processing and representing data, summarising data, scatter diagrams and correlation, time series, probability and index numbers.
This is a two year course and pupils will have the opportunity to take either the foundation or the higher papers.
Assessment: This exam will be externally assessed and will consist of two one and a half hour papers.
EDEXCEL Functional skills level 1 and 2
This course has a practical bent and helps prepare pupils for the maths involved in everyday life and many jobs. The content will consist of such things as :- measuring, percentages, fractions, ratio, proportion and multi-step practical problem solving tasks involving all of these.
Assessment: The exam is externally sat and consists of one test which can be taken on demand on paper or computer depending on the pupils needs.
EDEXCEL Entry levels 1, 2 & 3
This course prepares pupils for the GCSE course and gives pupils a boost in basic everyday maths. The content consists of :- addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money, measuring, angles and fractions.
Assessment: This course will be internally assessed and moderated before being sent for verification and consists of a calculator test, a non-calculator test and a written paper.
